The report of the second seminar

[color=darkred][justify][b]The second seminar for the autumn session took place on thursday 13th november ,2008, in Yahya Ayash square. The seminar was entitled "Technology and human use". The time was about 15:30h, we, members of ECDC, went to the square waiting the number to increase a little in order to start the discussion. Soon, the seminar took its right form. We started the discussion by defining ,first, the term technology. Generally, technology is the system by which a society provides its members with those things needed or desired. After, we discussed the positive side of technology; we focused on the internet for it is a useful means nowadays. It, the internet, facilitates the work of students/researchers. Besides, it bridges the gap of communication between cultures, and, also, provides us with the world wide news. That is, technology works against-minimizes the distance for it makes the world a global city. As far as life is concerned, everything has its pros and its cons-the same for technology. Hence, and unlike westerners, african people use somehow technology mostly in a bad way. For instance, the mobile now, the same for cars and other means, is used to disturb ladies. The main factors, we agreed on, that lead to the misuse of technology are age and awerness. That is, for example, some technological means are now available for children, too. Hence, a child cannot make a difference between what is good and what is bad. One of the other mentioned points during the discussion, even it was somehow out of the topic, was the negative side of technology for it kills the sense of creativity and stops the role of book. Hence, we need to be more aware of such things and work hard to reduce if not to stop the damage that may touch our society.[/b][/justify][/color]
